The battery is dead and won't take a charge. These have been used and will do a good job for a vlf receiver. This came from a local utility, they used them from in their microwave system to adjust sub carriers.

You can have the battery pack rebuilt or replace it. I did unhook connection to the installed battery pack. That is basically what the unit is, with a way of metering the received signal. It does work and will receive signals.
