No batteries are included. This is actually a scintillate, not just a Geiger counter, for those of you who know the difference.

The unit is shaped like a ray guy with a battery box that can be detached from the barrel and worn on a belt when the ray gun is used. Anyway, this vintage tool is sold without batteries and condition is simply, unknown.

I do not have batteries for this, so I have no way to test whether it still works or not. I can tell you there is no damage from battery leakage. Hey, I can picture it, even if you can't.
