It uses the integrated sensor on the top on the unit. This used dosimeter is a very accurate simple to use meter that will measure radiation dose and dose rate. This has not recently been calibrated but does match reading from a dosimeter that has been calibrated.

It comes with the cable to attach a remote sensing chamber not included. It operates on one 9 volt battery included.
